It Was a Quiet and Safe Halloween Weekend, Says Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas

Motorists and party goers heed the safety warnings over the weekend.

It was a quiet and apparently safe weekend for Trick or Treaters this weekend in Franklin County.

On Friday, local law enforcement issued warnings to parents and motorists about the possible dangers Saturday night.

Saturday night was complicated by the unusual Saturday night revelers and those watching both the Georgia/Florida game and the World Series.

Safety tips for both parents and motorists were issued and according to Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas, it appears the safety warnings were heeded.

“The Halloween traffic for Franklin County was very good,” Thomas said. “There were no injuries or problems with trick or treaters. We’re just very happy that it was very safe. We give credit to our extra patrols and to the churches who had events such as ‘trunk or treat.’ We thank everybody for taking care of our children.

Local law enforcement had expected a busy weekend with all three events along with the typical Saturday night revelries.

Georgia State Patrol Hartwell Post Assistant Commander Matt Baxley said his troopers also experienced few problems over the weekend.
