Inch or Less of Snow Forecast for Franklin, Stephens, Hart Counties, More Further South

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg calling for the Northeast Georgia area and the Upstate of South Carolina to get some snow today.

Franklin, Hart and Stephens Counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory from noon today until 9a Wednesday.

“We’re expecting about an inch in your areas, said Meteorologist John Tomko Tuesday morning. “When you get down to Elbert County, they’re in a Winter Storm Warning down there because they’re going to get between two and four (inches).”

Meteorologists have been studying various computer models for the past 24 hours regarding the cold front that has moved through our area from the southwest and exactly where the snow was expected to fall.  Meteorologist Brent Maclvoy said today’s predictions are a combination of new computer models.

“As we get closer, we’re seeing more and more models that are generating a slight amount of precipitation over the region to justify forecasting an inch of snow,” he said late Monday. “Some models have more snow, some have no snow. So, this is really a blend of a lot of different predictions, which really works pretty well.”
