High-Speed on I-85 Chase Lands Driver Behind Bars

A metro Atlanta woman is arrested after a high-speed chase Monday night on Interstate 85.  According to the Georgia State Patrol Post 52, the incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. when a trooper spotted an SUV speeding southbound near mile marker 168.  According to GSP, the driver was going 98 miles an hour in a 70 mile per hour zone.  The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the white 2020 Kia Telluride, but the driver did not comply.  This resulted in a pursuit for about 7.5 miles.  The officer initiated a PIT maneuver around milemarker 161 successfully stopping the vehicle.  The driver, identified as 19-year-old, Caylin Jalea Bell, of Ellenwood, Georgia, was arrested on scene without incident.  She was booked at the Franklin County Detention Center.  Bell was not injured.  As of 1:00 p.m on Tuesday, February 14, she was still behind bars.

A three-year-old child was found in the vehicle riding in a child seat that was not properly secured.  Franklin County EMS checked out the toddler and determined she was uninjured.  The child was released to her grandparent’s custody.

The driver faces multiple traffic charges including a felony charge for Fleeing/Attempting to Elude.
