A South Carolina woman is behind bars in Georgia awaiting extradition back to Oconee County after a high-speed chase Tuesday night into Lavonia that ended in the town’s cemetery.

Oconee County, SC Sheriff’s Dept spokesman Jimmy Watt said in a press release Wednesday it happened just after 6p Tuesday evening when a deputy patrolling in Westminster spotted a blue Scion with Georgia tags that had a traffic violation.

Watt said the vehicle also matched the description of a vehicle seen earlier in the day leaving a business in Westminster after a reported shoplifting incident.

The deputy pulled the Scion over and a check with dispatch revealed the driver, identified as 23-year-old Cheyenne Collier of West Union, had a General Sessions Bench Warrant in Oconee County for Possession of Methamphetamine and a Magistrate Bench Warrant from the city of
Walhalla.

As the deputy attempted to arrest Collier she put her vehicle in drive and drove off, almost dragging the Deputy with the vehicle.

The Deputy returned to his vehicle and a chase ensued.

Watt said the chase went down Highway 11 to I-85 where Collier got on the Interstate Southbound and crossed into Georgia.

Once in Georgia, Georgia State Patrol Trooper Corporal William Jordan with Hartwell Post 52 said she got off 85 at Exit 173.

Jordan said once Collier was apprehended they did an inventory of her vehicle and found drugs and drug paraphernalia. She now also faces multiple charges in Georgia.

Collier remains in the Franklin County Jail awaiting extradition back to Oconee County, SC.
