HCHS Students Awarded National Academic Honors

Hart County High School is recognizing multiple students who received national academic awards this year.

“Our students are to be commended for their academic achievements, and our
teachers are to be commended for their instructional efforts. The awarded honors exemplify the district's vision of educational excellence as well as the charter goals of high expectations and college and career preparation,”
Superintendent Jennifer Carter said.

“As a school, we want to be known for excellence, and when students are being
recognized by College Board then they are certainly excelling,” Hart County
High School Principal Kevin Gaines said. “HCHS is very fortunate to offer the
number of AP and Dual Enrollment classes we do.”

Six AP Scholars and three College Board National Recognition Program awardees were recognized by Principal Kevin Gaines on Aug. 31.

They include:
Gael D. Albarran AP Scholar 10th Grade
Isabella G. Chitwood  AP Scholar 10th Grade
Mary E. Jackson AP Scholar with Honor 12th Grade
Ethan McDowell  AP Scholar 12th Grade
Catherine H. Nguyen AP Scholar 10th Grade
Macy L. Robinson  AP Scholar 10th Grade

Every fall, the AP Program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP Exams.

AP Scholar distinction is granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams, and the AP Scholar with Honor distinction is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

In addition to the AP Scholars who were named, three Hart County High School students have earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs.

They are:

Cassidy Gaines: National Rural and Small Town Award
Huong Pham: National Rural and Small Town Award
Isabella Chitwood: National Rural and Small Town Award

The AP Program offers college-level courses and exams that you can take in high school.

Hart County High School currently offers 10 AP courses, in addition to 18 Dual Enrollment courses taught on campus by Athens Technical College, Emmanuel College, and Toccoa Falls.
