HCHS, HCMS Bring Home TSA State Championship Trophies, Medals

Multiple state championship trophies and medals are coming home to Hart County after the Hart County High School and Hart County Middle School Technology Student Association (TSA) chapters marked a successful trip at the state conference this past weekend.

The 2024 Georgia TSA State Leadership Conference, held at the Classic Center in Athens, GA from March 13-16, featured students from 182 schools across the state exhibiting their knowledge and skills through competitive events.

Hart County High School claimed state championships in two categories and earned top-10 placements in nine other categories.

Hart County Middle School earned first place in two categories, third place in two other categories, and was named 10th overall in Outstanding Middle School Chapters.

“We are very proud of how our TSA students and advisors represented our school
system at the TSA state conference,” said Steve Burton, CEO of Hart College and
Career Academy and Hart County Charter System CTAE Director. “Their achievements,
along with their sportsmanship, work ethic, and integrity, make me very proud. I’m also
grateful for every teacher who has contributed to the success of these students.”

Hart County High School earned first place in the Digital Video Production category with seniors Lexie Wheless, Zoey Heard, and Melody Blomberg leading the charge to nab a state championship.

HCHS also earned first place in Virtual Reality Visualization (VR) with students Gael Albarran, Catherine Nguyen, Sawyer Strickland, Brodie McDuffie, Torin McCurley, and Gage Vasile competing.

In the Electric Vehicle Rally (Lithium Ion) event, Hart County High School earned third place with Alissa Eitel behind the wheel and Brodie McDuffie, Delana Rice, and Riley Gaines on the crew.

In the Promotional Design event, Hart County High School senior Catherine Nguyen captured third place.

In addition to the success that Hart County students found at the state conference, Hart County TSA advisors Greg Gaines and Marvin McDuffie were recognized with plaques for their service on the State TSA Board of Directors.

Melody Blomberg, HCHS senior and TSA State Reporter, presented the award.
