The annual Buddenbaum STEAM Showcase, displaying student projects from every school in the district, is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, at the Hart County High School Gymnasium.

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

The event features various students’ projects from every school in the district across all grade levels and shares Project Based Learning activities with the community.

Attendees will have the opportunity to see how the Hart County Charter System is
utilizing Project Based Learning to prepare students for the future, and how the schools
are engaging students to ensure understanding and mastery.

Projects that will be on display range from “Making Plastic From Milk” to a World War II
Victory Garden and many other unique projects.

“As we prepare for the annual Buddenbaum STEAM Showcase, I’m reminded of the
incredible talent and creativity within our district. This event is not only a celebration of
our students’ achievements, but also a testament to our commitment to excellence,”
Superintendent Jennifer Carter said. “Through Project Based Learning, we’re fostering
the critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills necessary for success. I
invite our community to join us on April 18th to view firsthand the remarkable projects
our students have developed.”

Last year, the district’s STEAM facilitators chose to honor the work of former Assistant Superintendent, David Buddenbaum, who passed away in 2023 by naming the event the Buddenbaum STEAM Showcase.

Carter said the STEAM Showcases was Buddenbaum’s vision.

She said he was very passionate about project-based learning and knew that the engineering design process develops students’ creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative skills.

The Buddenbaum STEAM Showcase will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April
18, in the Hart County High School Gymnasium.

Admission is free and door prizes will
be awarded. Kona Ice and Top Dawg Grillers will also be onsite for the event.
