Hartwell Teen Indicted in Elbert Co on Vehicular Homicide Charges

A Hartwell teen has been indicted by an Elbert County Grand Jury in connection with a fatal crash in Bowman last November.

According to a report in the Elberton Star, 18-year old John Carter LeCroy of the Reed Creek area was indicted on one count of driving under the influence drugs, two counts of homicide by vehicle in the first degree, reckless driving, driving while license suspended/revoked, DUI under 21, and failure to maintain lane.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper First Class James Randall, just after 11p on November 15 LeCroy was traveling south on Highway 17 in Bowman when he crossed the center line and struck a northbound vehicle head-on that was driven by 50-year old Edward Marvin Wright of Canon.

Wright was pronounced dead at the scene by the Elbert County Coroner.

LeCroy was denied bail and is being held at the Elbert County Detention Center.
