HARTWELL PEDESTRIAN DIES AFTER BEING STRUCK BY VEHICLE
A Hartwell woman has died after being hit while trying to cross a road.
Sgt. JR Dean with the Georgia State Patrol Hartwell Post said it happened Saturday evening just after 6p on Georgia Highway 8 near Norman Road.
“Troopers from Post 52 (Hartwell) were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian with a report of fatal injury,” Dean said. “A silver 2011 Ford Flex was traveling westbound on GA 8 when a 54-year-old female pedestrian was walking northbound attempting to cross the travel lanes of GA 8. The Ford struck the woman in the westbound lane of GA 8 and came to a controlled final rest.”
Dean said the woman was found lying in the centerline of Highway 8 and was pronounced dead at the scene. She is identified as 54-year-old Barbara Brenda Teasley of Hartwell.
The driver and passenger of the Ford were not injured. Dean said the driver will not be charged.
