Hartwell Lakeside Music Festival Sunday Will Benefit the Hart Co Humane Society

If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, you’ll want to check out the Hartwell Lakeside Music Festival at the Hartwell Lakeside Resort in Hartwell.

The Music Fest takes place Sunday, May 28, from 4 PM-10 PM.

This year’s music concert features performances by the TAMS, the Reservoir Dogs, Sticky Tim, and Phil Duncan.

It’s a Party with a Purpose and part of the proceeds will go to benefit the Hart County Humane Society.

“This year it’s to benefit the animals we rescue and so we’re very grateful for that,” said Humane Society President Donna Madkiff. “We’re going to be there helping to emcee and have our dogs there. These are the dogs we rescue from the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter.”

The Hart County Humane Society is a no-kill pet rescue group that primarily works with the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia to take the most at-risk dogs and cats, foster them, and find them forever homes.

Madkiff said most of the money raised this weekend will go towards paying for the medical expenses of their foster dogs and cats.

“It’s going to pay for our medical fund. A lot of our medical bills have gone up. We just spent a lot of money on our spay/neuter program. We reduced it this month to $10 but hopefully, it will prevent a lot of litters of kittens in the long run. We’re all volunteers and nobody is reimbursed. So, it’s all for the medical needs of our animals, dogs, and cats,” she explained.

Again, the Hartwell Lakeside Music Festival and Party with a Purpose takes place Sunday from 4p to 10p at Hartwell Lakeside Resort.
