Hartwell Doctor Receives Georgia Primary Care Assn PEACH Award

A Hartwell doctor is one of two local recipients to receive the Georgia Primary Care Association‘s P.E.A.C.H. award at their annual Awards Celebration Luncheon.

Dr. Daniel Gordon of Hartwell was awarded the Provider of the Year award and Wiliam “Doug” Bridges of Madison County received the Community Health Center Board Member of the Year award.

The two were chosen out of dozens of nominations from across the state.

The CHC Provider of the Year recognizes a primary health care provider for outstanding services to individuals and exemplary efforts in improving the health and well-being of the residents of his/her community.

Dr. Gordon is a native of Hartwell and the son of attorney Walter Gordon.

Gordon works with MedLink in Hartwell and according to MedLink spokeswoman Tiffany Rucker, he demonstrates what it truly means to provide “patient-centered” care by advocating for each patient and family, partnering with his patients, meeting patients where they are, holding their hand, if necessary, and explaining health issues in a way that is simple and easy to understand.

Doug Bridges, of Madison County, has served on MedLink Georgia’s Board of Directors for over 25 years.

He was recognized by MedLInk for his support of fellow Board members and finds multiple ways to encourage each Board member to get involved.

MedLink Georgia received two of seven awards given at the Awards Celebration Luncheon.

The Georgia Primary Care Association is a member service organization representing the Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) in Georgia through the provision of training, technical assistance and the development and implementation of strategies to expand and strengthen the FQHC system.

MedLink Georgia is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center providing quality, professional healthcare to over 51,000 Georgians in rural areas and has served Northeast Georgian communities since 1979.
