Hart Habitat Sponsors Women Ride Women Build Event Saturday

Hart County Habitat for Humanity will be holding its second annual Women Ride Women Build fundraiser event this Saturday, which will once again feature its Rosie the Riveter Costume Contest.

It’s part of celebrating Habitat’s Women Build week which takes place the first week in March.

Habitat for Humanity Women Build events provides the opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities.

Women Build opportunities are available across the U.S., and any woman who wants to learn how to build and construct a home is invited to join us. No experience is necessary.

Hart Habitat Executive Director Darlene Nixon tells WLHR News Habitat for Humanity is still moving forward with efforts to complete a house for a wheelchair-bound single mother.

The Women Ride Women Build motorcycle bike ride begins at Quality Foods and will end at the new Railroad St. Depot and Park where there will be food and lots of different types of vendors.

Nixon said like last year, the day will also feature a Rosie the Riveter costume contest at the Railroad St. Train Depot. Winners of the Rosie the Riveter contest will receive a Rosie gift bag of different items, $300 cash, and a $50 Amazon gift card.

Women can enter the ride and the contest for $25 each.

Proceeds will go towards finishing the three-bedroom home on Savannah St. for Yolanda Feaster, her daughter, and granddaughter.

Anyone interested in volunteering during Women Build Week or participating in the Rosie the Riveter Costume contest or bike ride can contact Hart County Habitat for Humanity at 706-436-0741 or go online to harthabitat.org or visit the Hart County Habitat for Humanity Facebook page.
