Hart County Sends Letter Opposing Expanded Weight Limits on Trucks

Hart County is sending a letter to the General Assembly asking them to oppose a bill that would allow weight increases for certain trucks, including allowing logging companies to increase the weight their logging trucks carry.

At their meeting earlier this month, the Board of Commissioners voted to send the letter opposing HB189 after hearing from Commission Chairman Marshal Sayer.

Commissioner Joey Dorsey pointed to a fatal wreck in the County two years ago involving a logging truck carrying too much weight.

The Commission wrote a similar letter in 2021 to the General Assembly when a similar bill was in the State.

HB189 was withdrawn from General Calendar and recommitted to the Transportation Committee by Rules Committee on the 16th and last Thursday was Favorably Reported on by the committee with some changes.
