Hart County Municipal Elections Qualifying Continues

In Hart County, four city council races are open, along with the mayoral race.

Also, one county commission race is open.

Brandon Johnson resigned his District 3 seat on the board of commissioners to run for Mayor of Hartwell.

In the race for Hartwell City Council, all three incumbents have qualified, Tray Hicks, Arthur Craft, Billy Ethridge, and Bill Griggs for former city councilman David Little’s seat.

Little resigned his seat on the council in order to run for mayor.

His council seat is considered a special election, however it will take place on November 5^th along with the other city council races.

Those qualifying as of Tuesday morning for the Hartwell Mayor’s race include incumbent Jennifer Scott, and challengers Brandon Johnson, Mike Gordon and David Little.

Qualifying for the Hartwell City Council and mayor’s race runs through Wednesday from 8:30a to 4:30p

For the District 3 County Commission seat left vacant by Brandon Johnson, as of Monday at 4p, only one person has qualified.

He is Jimmy Carey.

Qualifying for the Hart County seats ends today 5p and Wednesday at noon.
