Hart County Humane Soc. to Participate in Petsmart’s National Pet Adoption Weekend

This little Yorkie mix will be available for adoption this weekend

The Hart County Humane Society will once again be participating in Petsmart’s National Adoption Event of 2022.

Humane Society President Donna Madkiff tells WLHR News they will be joining the Anderson County Humane Society at the Anderson Petsmart this Saturday and Sunday with a host of wonderful dogs and cats needing their new forever homes.

Madkiff said all available pets for adoption are already spayed or neutered, tested negative for diseases, microchipped, appropriately vaccinated, and treated for parasites.

The Hart County Humane Society works with the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia to take adoptable dogs and cats and kittens and find them good homes.

This weekend the Hart County Humane Society will have a variety of dogs, cats, and kittens looking for loving homes.

To find out what dogs and cats the Hart County Humane Society will have available at this weekend at the National Adoption event you can go online to harthumane.org or the Hart Co Humane Society Facebook page, and if you see a dog or cat that you’re interested in you can go ahead and fill out an adoption application form and speed up the process this weekend.

Madkiff said each rescued pet adopted makes room for a shelter pet to be rescued.

In May, PetSmart Charities crossed the landmark 10 millionth pet adoption since launching in 1994.

During the busy summer seasons, shelters are overflowing with pets in need of loving homes.

PetSmart Charities encourages people to consider adopting animals particularly at risk including large dogs, senior cats and dogs, and kittens.

Staffing shortages at shelters have only increased the urgent need for people to adopt.

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter has had to close on Thursdays because of staffing shortages.
