Hart County High School 2016 STAR Student and Teacher Named

Hart County Schools have named their STAR student for the class of 2016.

He is David Rice, a senior at Hart County High School.  Rice is the son of Charles and Caren Rice.

David has selected Mr. Lloyd Martin, Latin teacher at Hart County High School, as his STAR Teacher.

STAR students and their teachers are honored each year by Georgia high schools and receive special recognition in their communities from one of more than 165 statewide civic organization and businesses that serve as local sponsors of the STAR program.

Students then compete for regional honors.  Regional winners compete for the honor of being named State STAR Student.

STAR Teachers continue on with their STAR Students at every level of the program.

The Hart County Chamber of Commerce will serve as the 2016 STAR Student sponsor.
Chamber Education Committee Chair GT Myers says a reception to honor the STAR Student will take place on February 23, 2016 at the Lonnie Burns Fine Arts Center.

The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program, now in it’s 58th year, is sponsored, administered and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educations (PAGE) Foundation

Since its inception, the STAR program has honored nearly 25,500 students and the teachers they have selected as having had the most influence on their academic achievement.

To obtain a STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.
