Hart County Charter System to Hold STEAM Showcase Tonight

Hart County Charter School System’s annual STEAM Showcase, now known as the Buddenbaum STEAM Showcase, takes place tonight at the Hart County High School Gymnasium beginning at 6p.

The event features various students’ Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics projects from every school in the district across all grade levels.

The purpose of the event is to share Project-based Learning activities with the community.

Attendees will have the opportunity to see how Hart County Schools are utilizing Project Based Learning to prepare students for the future, and how the schools are engaging students to ensure understanding and mastery of the subjects.

Projects that will be on display range from Pre-K students successfully growing celery from a celery stalk, to high school students engineering and launching Stoichiometry Rockets.

This year, the district’s STEAM facilitators chose to honor the work of former Assistant Superintendent, David Buddenbaum, by naming the event the Buddenbaum STEAM Showcase.

“When working with us, Mr. Buddenbaum was very passionate about project-based learning. He knew that the engineering design process developed students’ creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative skills,” Superintendent Jennifer Carter said. “The STEAM showcase was undoubtedly Mr. Buddenbaum’s vision. Allowing the event to bear his name is one very small way to recognize his dedication to the field of education as well as his devotion to the students of Hart County.”

Again, the Buddenbaum STEAM Showcase will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. this evening in the Hart County High School Gymnasium.

Admission is free and door prizes will be awarded. Kona Ice and Chick-Fil-A will also be onsite for the event.
