Hart County Charter System Holding Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration Next Week

The Hart County Charter School System is holding Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year the week of April 22-April 26, 2024.

Hart County Charter System Superintendent Jennifer Carter said Monday the system’s Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning, and they look forward to partnering with families to support the educational journey of each child.

Pre-Kindergarten registration will be held at the Hart County Agriscience Center, located at 1951 Bowman Highway, Hartwell from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024, and from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024.

An interpreter will be available on both days to assist families. The interpreter will be available on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Parents should plan to bring the child they are registering with them to registration.

Please note that only 40 slots are available per school, and slots will be filled through a lottery process.

To be eligible for Pre-Kindergarten, children must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2024, and must be residents of Georgia.

Parents should bring the following documents for registration:

Child’s Proof of Age – Original Birth Certificate
Parent/Guardian Picture ID
Proof of Georgia Residence
Ga. Certificate of Immunization Form 3231
Original Social Security Card for the CHILD

Additional documents may be required, such as custodial papers or legal guardianship documentation, child’s Medicaid card, or proof of food stamps, TANF, and/or SSI.

Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year will be held at the following schools on the specified dates:

North Hart Elementary: Tuesday, April 23, 2024
Hartwell Elementary: Wednesday, April 24, 2024
South Hart Elementary: Thursday, April 25, 2024

Kindergarten registration will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day at the respective schools.

Parents should register at the school zoned for their home address. Children must be 5 years old by September 1, 2024, to be eligible for Kindergarten.

An interpreter will be available each day from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

During Kindergarten registration, parents can expect to complete various forms, undergo readiness testing, and participate in screenings for hearing, dental, BMI, and vision, as well as speech screening. Parents should plan to bring the child they are registering with them to registration.

To register for Kindergarten, parents should bring the following documents:
Original Birth Certificate (not a copy)
Proof of Guardianship (if applicable)
Parent/Guardian’s Picture ID
Certified Immunization (GA Form 3231)
Proof of Primary Residence (Landline/utility bill or notarized lease required)
Child’s Social Security Card
