Hart County Celebrates Agriculture Saturday with “Farm Fest”

After weeks of planning, the Hart County Chamber of Commerce will hold their first ever Farm Fest this weekend at the Hart County Recreation Park.

The event is a daylong festival designed to spotlight the county’s agricultural heritage and industry.

Chamber director Nikki Meyer said they hope this will become an annual old fashioned country fair featuring homemade, home grown, and handmade items with a modern touch.

“The local farmer’s market will be held there, we will also have plant sales and we will have exhibits as well as an educational tent that will have speakers throughout the day,” she said.

Meyer said there will also be a children’s area with rides and games.

And the Hart County Chamber pulled out all the stops to promote Farm Fest.  Meyer said the chamber paid to have a billboard on I-85 advertising the event to motorists.

Events get underway Saturday morning with booths opening at 9a.  Some 75 vendors will have items to sell.

Then from 6p to 9p, Farm Fest will culminate with the Boot Scootin’ Barn Dance featuring live country music.

Farm Fest takes place at the Hart County Recreation Park on Elberton Highway.  Admission is $5 per person. Children under six get in free.
