Hart County Board of Education Approves New School Superintendent

The Hart County Board of Education voted unanimously on Monday, May 9, 2022, to approve current Associate Superintendent Jennifer Carter as the next Superintendent of the Hart County Charter System.

Mrs. Carter will begin her term as Superintendent beginning July 1, 2022, following the retirement of current Superintendent Jay Floyd. Below is a statement from Mrs. Carter regarding her approval to become the next Superintendent:

“I am appreciative of Mr. Floyd’s guidance and friendship throughout the past seven years. I know he will continue to serve as a mentor to me and an advocate for the Hart County Charter System. I wish him a retirement filled with happiness and health!

“I am thankful for the Board’s confidence in my abilities and for the opportunity to serve the community that has given so much to my family and me. I look forward to learning more about each Board of Education member and working together as a team to make decisions that are in the best interest of students and staff,” Carter continued.

“The incoming executive committee brings stability, experience, and new energy to the school district. We will work together to maintain our rich traditions as well as create new ones. We will continue growing creative, collaborative, critical thinkers.”

“Moving forward, it will be necessary to intentionally increase our visibility in classrooms and in schools and to strengthen relationships with stakeholders. We will focus on quality over quantity. My desire is for others to come to the Hart County Charter System to see our offerings/programs with replication in mind. I want us to be the very best,” she concluded.

A native of Hart County, Carter has been with the Hart County Charter System since 2008.

Prior to becoming the Associate Superintendent,  Carter served as the Assistant Principal at Hartwell Elementary School.
