Hart Co Grand Jury Indicts Bowersville Man on Six Counts of Rape, Child Molestation

Jeremy Green

The Hart County Grand Jury last week returned  indictments and among them was an indictment against a Bowersville man on six counts of statutory rape and child molestation dating back to 2015.

36-year old Jeremy Leonard Green was indicted on August 17.

The six-count indictment alleges Green molested and raped a teenage girl under the age of 16 from July 2015 to November 2015.

The girl, identified in the indictment as Jennifer Cobb, now 20, died June 30.

Green was arrested on June 15.

He was later released on a $250,000 bond on June 24 and is under house arrest as part of his bond conditions.

Cobb’s parents say they believe their daughter’s death is related to years of sexual abuse on the part of Green though he has only been indicted for alleged crimes in 2015.

Susan Cobb said at a vigil for her daughter that Green sexually abused her daughter from the age of 12 and was just starting to recover from the sex molestation and rape.

Cobb said her daughter had agreed to testify against Green when she saw him use the same tactics on other young girls he had used on her when she was 12.

Her mother said Jennifer was hoping to get on with her life but was devastated when Green was granted bond.

Since her daughter’s death, Cobb has campaigned for better education in the schools of sexual abuse and how to recognize the signs.
