Hart Co Commissioner Oglesby, Family Members Out on Bond

Commissioner RC Oglesby arrested last Thursday under the RICO Act

Hart County Commissioner RC Oglesby and his son Steven and other family members have been released from the Hart County Detention Center.

Hart County Clerk of Court Frankie Gray tells WLHR News on Tuesday, a Superior Court Judge issued a Consent Bond order for Oglesby, his son, and other families members.

Bond for RC Oglesby and his son was set at $50,000.

Amy and Dasia Oglesby were released on a $25,000 bond each.

After a months long undercover investigation by the GBI, the Hart County Sheriff’s office, and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, Oglesby, 65 and his son Steven Oglesby, 41 were arrested last week along with Steven’s wife Amy, Dasia Oglesby and Monique Oglesby on charges of the alleged fraudulent use of EBT cards.

All were charged with racketeering under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act or RICO on charges of the illegal use of EBT cards.

According to Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland, Oglesby is accused of buying EBT cards for pennies on the dollar from legitimate owners of those cards, then using them to buy food for Amy Oglesby’s restaurant, Ludi’s, which is located next to the R&D car wash that is owned by his family, and for the cafeteria food at the Hartwell Tenneco plant, which was also run by Amy Oglesby.

Search warrants were also executed at RC Oglesby and Steven Oglesby’s homes where agents say they also found drugs.

RC Oglesby is charged with 10 counts of Shoplifting, and 2 counts of Racketeering, Stephen Oglesby is charged with 3 counts of Racketeering, Amy Oglesby is charged with 10 counts of Racketeering, Dasia Oglesby has been charged with 1 count of Racketeering, and Monique Oglesby, is also charged with one count of Racketeering.
