Hart Co Charter System Easing Visitation Rules

The Hart County Charter System is easing up on its visitation policy now that the County, along with other counties in the District 2 Public Health Region are considered to have a low community level of the transmission of COVID-19.

School System spokesman Grayson Williams tells WLHR News that on Tuesday, the Hart County Charter System Leadership Team met to discuss visitor restrictions implemented during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In making their decision school officials pointed to Hart County’s 14-day case rate and percent positive rate, which has continued to decline in recent weeks.

As of Monday, the percent positive rate was 2.5% and the 14-day case rate was 165 (per 100K).

School Superintendent Jay Floyd said in a press release the school system will gradually ease up on its visitation policy.

Beginning Wednesday, parents and guardians are now allowed to all grade-level events but limited to two adults per child.  That also includes Award Day events.

Parent/Teacher conferences scheduled for March 24 will still be virtual but will return to in-person conferences after March 29.

Addtionally, in anticipation of a large volume of cafeteria visitors, individual schools will begin advertising guidelines for cafeteria visitors following spring break.

Cafeteria visitors will then be allowed into the school after April 20.

Floyd said parents/guardians need to refer to the school’s handbook for in-school birthday celebrations.

However, gifts for students will not be allowed in the school.  And food for birthday celebrations no longer has to be packaged or individually wrapped.

Floyd concluded that other guidelines will be issued as new events present themselves.
