Hart BOC to Open Bids Tonight for Airport-Authority Forensic Auditor

Hart County Commissioners will be opening the bids tonight they received for the forensic audit on the Franklin-Hart County Airport when they meet for their second session of the month.

Hart County Administrator Terrell Partain told the Board of Commissioners at their meeting earlier this month there has been a lot of interest so far.

Last fall, the Hart County Board of Commissioners agreed to help pay for the audit after Franklin County Commissioner Eddie Wester requested one be done.

At that time, Wester said he was not able to find any record of audits being done at the Airport Authority except for the one done in 2019.

The two Boards of Commissioners met in December to hammer out what needed to be looked at in the audit.

At the time, Commissioner Joey Dorsey said they are looking for an outside firm to do the job that has had no prior contact with either Franklin or Hart counties nor the Airport Authority Board.

In other business tonight the Board is also expected to discuss putting out a request for proposals for project management for the new County jail.

Commissioners announced their plans to build a new county jail after coming out of executive session at their February 9th meeting.

Dorsey said the County plans to build the new jail near the state women’s prison off Hickory Crossing Road.

No date has yet been set for the start of construction.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6p at the Hart County Commission office on Reed Creek Highway and is open to the public.
