Hart Board of Elections to Hear Citizens’ Comments Tonight on Precinct Consolidation Plan

Hartwell and Reed Creek voters will have an opportunity this evening to ask questions and voice their opinions regarding a plan to consolidate their voting precincts into one.

A called meeting of the Board of Elections takes place tonight at 6:30p on the 27th at the Lonnie Burns Fine Arts Center at Hart County High School.

The Hart County Board of Elections recently announced its intention to combine the two precincts.

Elections Supervisor Robin Webb issued a press release announcing the Elections Board’s plan to combine the Reed Creek precinct and the Hartwell precinct and remove the precinct boundaries.

Webb recently told WLHR News the Hartwell polling place at the Hart County Rec Center is at capacity and Reed Creek’s polling place at the Reed Creek Baptist church fellowship hall is closing.

The new polling place for the combined precincts will be the First United Methodist Church Gym at 151 S. Webb Street in Hartwell.

Board members believe the location has the adequate space required with suitable and appropriate access for disabled electors.

They also said the new location will be more convenient for voters and poll officers and would better serve the needs of the voters.

After tonight’s meeting, Webb will consider the proposal at a Board of Elections Meeting on February 21 at 10 am. That meeting is open to the public.
