Habersham County EMS Restricts Access Due to COVID Variant

Habersham County EMS is taking steps to protect their employees as the COVID delta variant moves through Georgia.

In a press release Wednesday, they announced that effective immediately, all Habersham County Emergency Services Houses are restricting access to only department personnel and other essential county employees, etc., due to the emergence of the COVID-19 Delta variant.

Signage has been placed on the doors to make visitors and the public aware (both in Spanish and English).

“The measures help to assure the safety of personnel and citizens,” Carolyn Gibson, Habersham Public Information Officer said Wednesday. “Personnel who could become infected or sick and can’t work puts a heavier burden on the current workforce issues the fire and EMS departments have been experiencing. And that could cause delays in response times or worse for citizens needing help.”

Gibson said the protection and security of emergency personnel must come first so citizens can feel assured there is help when they need it.
