GSP Reports 20 Killed on GA Roads Over Holiday Weekend

The Georgia State Patrol is reporting 20 people died on Georgia roadways over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend that began last Wednesday at 6p and ended at midnight Sunday.

That included a fatality in Toccoa Saturday afternoon when a Seneca man, identified as 49-year old William Pate crashed the Harley Davidson motorcycle he was driving at the intersection of Whispering Pines and Highway 17.

So far, they have not released the number of traffic injuries due to crashes nor the number of traffic violations over the holiday period.

However, on Monday, GSP reported on Twitter that a terminal tractor pulling a trailer on SR21 in Port Wentworth was stopped by the Motor Carrier Division for a random inspection.

During the inspection, the driver was discovered to be under the influence of drugs and had possession of illegal drugs.

The driver, whose name was not released, was arrested.
