GSP Investigating Fatal Wreck on I-85

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) continues to investigate a wreck on I-85 overnight that left one person dead and another injured.

It happened early Friday morning on I-85 near Exit 149.

According to the Banks County Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a one car fatality about 2:30a this morning.

Banks County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Carissa McFaddin tells WLHR News one occupant in the vehicle was transported to Athens Regional for non-life threatening injuries.

So far, no word on how the accident happened.

The scene was turned over to Georgia State Patrol Gainesville Post for further investigation.  According to Trooper Brown at the Gainesville Post, officers continue to work the accident scene this morning.

More details on the wreck will be released once their investigation is concluded.
