Georgia Unemployment Rates Drop in April as Job Openings Continue Hitting Record Highs

Georgia’s unemployment rate dropped another 0.2 percentage points in April to reach 4.3 percent.

In April, the labor force was up 11,336 to reach a total of 5,172,407 and was up by 186,000 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Georgia’s employed residents in April saw an increase of 22,222, reaching a total of 4,951,267, and was up 586,000 since April 2020.

In Franklin County, the latest unemployment rate for March was 3.7%.

Franklin County’s labor force was 10,127 and of that, 9,751 were employed and 376 were listed as collecting unemployment benefits.

In Hart County, the unemployment rate for March was 3.9%.

Hart County’s labor force in March stood at 11,751 and of that, 11,291 were employed with 460 residents listed as collecting unemployment benefits.

The total number of jobs listed online at EmployGeorgia remains at 239,000 job listings— that’s more than triple the number of job listings in April of 2020.

Of the over 239,000 jobs currently listed on EmployGeorgia, 72 percent show salaries over $30,000.

In many cases, employers are willing to train quality candidates and assist with the attainment of additional credentials.

The sectors with the most over-the-month job gains included Health Care and Social Assistance; Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services, 1,500; and Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction.
