GDOT Doing Emergency Roadwork Today on I-85 Northbound

If you are heading up from Banks County today on I-85 you might want to consider using SR59 northbound instead.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will be performing some emergency road maintenance on I-85 northbound today.

Crews will be replacing a concrete slab and doing spall repair on the roadway and will have the right lane closed between mile markers 151-153 between Exit 149 in Banks Crossing and State Route 63.

This is expected to lead to congestion and backups on the Interstate northbound so motorists are asked to consider alternative routes to avoid delays.

State Route 59 northbound is one option or you can take 441 north to SR51 in Homer and take 51 east to Carnesville and get back on the Interstate northbound at the 160 on-ramp.

Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers.

Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the Georgia 511 app.
