GDOT Crews Doing Maintenance on Local Roads This Week

Once again, motorists this week should expect to see Georgia DOT crews out working on area roadways and highways, weather permitting.

Routine maintenance is planned in Banks, Elbert, Franklin, Hart, Madison and Stephens Counties..

This week GDOT Maintenance Crews will improve safety on state routes by trimming or removing vegetation and brush from the rights of way.

Most activities will only require shoulder or median lane closures.

Franklin County – A crew will removing damaged asphalt and replacing it on SR 59, a lane closure is required while this work occurs.

A flagger will direct traffic through the work zone.

Madison County – A crew must repair a drainage pipe under SR 191, a lane closure will be in place as the work occurs.

Stephens County – A slope alongside SR 17 will be repaired, shoulder closures are likely in the work zone.

In addition, in those counties as as well as in Banks and Elbert counties, crews will be mowing along State Routes to clear vegetation that can become a safety hazard for motorists.

Motorists should reduce their speed in these and all work zones. State Route shoulders will be closed as crews mow and trim vegetation.
