GDOT Advises Caution Today on North GA Mountain Roads

The Georgia Department of Transportation is monitoring the weather and conditions.

Now that most of the snow and icy weather is expected further to our north, G-DOT spokesperson Teri Pope says crews will begin canvassing the mountain areas later today.

“Our first shift came in at midnight and we’ve been checking road conditions since then,” she said. “We have our second shift coming in at noon today.”

Pope however warns motorists who may be heading to the North Georgia Mountains later today to use caution.

“We are expecting some winter precipitation. So we want you to check the roads before you head out on the roads. Be aware it’s likely to come in mid-afternoon today. So, you need to be aware of the weather throughout the day today,” she said.
