GDOL to Co-Sponsor Business and Employer Summit

The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) and several employer committees in northeast Georgia will co-sponsor a Business and Employer Summit next week in Demorest.

The summit will be held Tuesday, October 28 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at The Torch Worship Center, 800 Cannon Bridge Road and is designed to help business owners and managers better understand and conquer compliance challenges in the workplace.
State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler and other experts will discuss three of the top 10 issues facing the business community in today’s economic climate.

Topics include the emerging workforce, unemployment insurance (UI) regulations, and healthcare compliance.
Commissioner Butler will also provide updates on new legislation that could impact businesses in the upcoming year, as well as new GDOL initiatives.

Butler said after looking at feedback from last year’s summits, his office has put together an agenda that addresses the needs, concerns and questions of Georgia’s business professionals.

The Demorest area summit is one of several summits being held throughout Georgia.
