GBI Investigation into Shooting on Union County School Grounds Continues

Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation continue to look into a shooting incident last week at a school in Union County.

GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles tells WLHR News that as of Monday, the investigation continues and there is nothing new to report.

Miles said it happened around 2:15 p.m. last Thursday at Union County Primary School.

Someone targeted a specific unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot of the school.

The suspect, a school employee, is in custody and there is no threat to the public, according to Miles.  No motive for the shooting has been released.

The school was not in session; however, there was a teacher planning session going onat the time of the shooting.

Miles said the investigation is active and ongoing and as it progresses, the GBI will provide updates.
