GBI Investigating Christmas Eve Murder-Suicide in Madison County

In Madison County, agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have been called in to assist in a murder-suicide on Christmas Eve.

According to a report on MainstreetNews.com, it happened in Colbert just after 11p Christmas Eve.

Madison County Sheriff Kip Thomas said 29-year old Quantreka Barnes Carruth and her husband, 31=-year old Daniel Latorey Carruth had been involved in a domestic dispute that night.

According to Thomas, the couple left their home on Farm Road in their minivan, loaded with Christmas presents for their children.

As the argument continued, Quantreka Carruth jumped out of the moving van and ran to a neighbor’s house and pleaded to use their phone.

While Quantreka was on the phone with Madison County 911, her husband stepped into the doorway of the home and shot her multiple times in the chest with a handgun.

He then turned the gun on himself, shooting himself in the head.

Thomas said the three people in the home witnessed the murder-suicide, but none of them were hurt.

The bodies were takenn to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy.
