GBI CEACC Unit Nabs Three for Child Porn Crimes in Separate Investigations

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations’ Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit continues its crackdown on those who use the Internet to traffic child pornography.

On Monday, the GBI released the arrests of three men in three North Georgia counties.

On April 21, agents arrested a Colbert man identified as 30-year old Bryan Simmons.

The GBI CEACC Unit began an investigation into Simmons’ online activity after receiving a request for assistance from Homeland Security Investigations regarding the trading of images depicting child pornography by Simmons via the internet.

This investigation led to a search warrant at Simmons’ home in Colbert, Madison County, Georgia, and his subsequent arrest.

Simmons was booked into the Madison County Jail.

On Thursday, April 15, 2021, Clarke County resident, 22-year old Kameron Veasey, was charged with one count of Sexual Exploitation of Children (Possession of Child Pornography), five counts of Criminal Attempt to commit Sexual Exploitation of Children, and one count of Obscene Internet Contact with a Child by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit.

The GBI CEACC Unit began an investigation into Veasey’s online activity after receiving a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the online possession of images depicting child pornography.

When criminal charges were brought against Veasey by the GBI, he was incarcerated at the Madison County Jail on criminal charges unrelated to the GBI’s investigation.

Also on April 21, 2021, Oglethorpe County resident, James Smith, age 26, was charged with two counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children (Distribution of Child Pornography) by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit.

The GBI CEACC Unit began an investigation into Smith’s online activity after receiving a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the online possession of images depicting child pornography.

This investigation led to a search warrant at Smith’s home in Lexington, Oglethorpe County, Georgia, and the subsequent arrest of Smith.

Smith was booked into the Oglethorpe County Jail.

The three arrests are part of the GBI’s ongoing effort by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, to identify those involved in the child pornography trade.
