G-DOT Continues Road Work on I-85 in Franklin County

Georgia Department of Transportation construction partners are continuing their work on I-85 northbound and southbound in Franklin County near the Banks County line, which means motorists can expect delays and lane closures.

Speeds will be reduced to 60 mph in the work zone area.

Work began Wednesday and will continue for the next three weeks – mainly in the overnight hours.

Crews are doing milling and paving work on the Interstate from mile marker 161 to 162 on multiple nights for the next 3 weeks.

Work includes patching outside shoulders, milling and paving lanes, raising the original guard rail, and installing a barrier wall.

Most of the work will take place from 9p to 6a the following morning and speeds will be reduced to 60 mph.

G-DOT is advising motorists use extreme caution and reduce speeds as they travel through this work zone.

Message signs, barrels and cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes.

Drivers should also be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to travel lanes.
