G-DOT Begins Traffic Pacing on I-85 in Franklin County Thursday Night

Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation construction partners will pace traffic on Interstate 85 on northbound and southbound lanes for continued work on the bridge replacement project on State Route 198 over Interstate 85. The construction partners will set new bridge beams during the traffic pacing.

Traffic pacing requires the traffic speed to be temporarily reduced rather than completely stopped to safely allow uninterrupted work activities. This overall project is expected to be complete November 2021.

Traffic pacing will be in place July 8 from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. and July 9 from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

WHERE: Interstate 85, 3 miles southwest of Carnesville. The total length of the project is approximately 0.19 mile. Motorists can expect to experience delays traveling through the project.

Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the Georgia 511 app.
