Funeral Service is Today in Toccoa for Local Doctor Killed in Plane Crash

Funeral services will be held this afternoon in Toccoa for local cosmetic surgeon Dr. Lionel Meadows.

Meadows died last Sunday night when his plane crashed into the mountains near Chattanooga Tennessee.

He had reportedly been visiting family in Indiana and was flying back to the Jackson County airport Sunday evening when his plane encountered a storm in the mountains in Polk County, TN.

Dr. Meadows was the owner of Meadows Surgical Arts in Commerce.

Funeral services will be held at one o’clock this afternoon at First Baptist Church of Toccoa with Pastor Jarrod Thurmon officiating.

The service will be live-streamed via the Meadows Surgical Arts Facebook page. Employees for Meadows Surgical Arts will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Surgical Hope Foundation, Inc., which he and his wife founded at P. O. Box 1238, Commerce, GA 30529.

Whitlock Mortuary, Funerals, and Cremations in Toccoa is in charge of the arrangements for Dr. Lionel Dain Meadows.

He was 54.
