Franklin Springs Opens Community Room to Candidates

Franklin Springs Mayor Lee Moore and the City Council have agreed to allow Franklin County candidates running for office to use the Franklin Springs Community Room free of charge to hold Meet and Greet events.

At the City Council meeting last Thursday, Moore said it’s a way for the candidates to meet with voters and share their platforms.

Any candidate who wishes to use the Community Room can contact Franklin Springs City Clerk Jackie Yearwood at 706-245-6957 or email [email protected].

In other business, the Mayor announced the date for a community celebration of the town’s 100th anniversary.

Moore said the Centennial Celebration is set for Saturday, July 27 from 6p to 9p.

The fun will take place in the parking areas behind City Hall.

According to the Mayor, some of the events they have planned include a car show, food vendors, and kids’ activities.

Moore noted that plans are not finalized and more activities will be announced as they get closer to the event.  However, he did say there will be no fireworks that evening.

The City of Franklin Springs was chartered on July 22, 1924.

WLHR News will continue to keep listeners updated on the events planned for the City’s Centennial Celebrations as they become available.
