FCMS TSA students take home most trophies at state convention

They are the future of industry in Franklin County and Georgia and recently, the Franklin County Middle School chapter of the Technology Student Association proved that at the recent 52nd Georgia TSA State Convention.

The convention was held at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia, on March 13 and 14.

21 students in grades six through eight represented  Franklin County Middle School at the convention. 

Representing the chapter were: Jade Wester, Aleah Hylton, Hannah Cary, Andrew Thomas, David Shoemaker, Brennan Coile, Owen Burtt, Bo Breedlove, Chuck Vickery, Allie Cobb, Meribeth Starrett, Haley Gaines, Claire Fowler, Lucas Parham, Grace Harbin, Tre Bennett, Lilly Davis, Morgan Roach, Andy Cothran, Kennedy Williams, and Chandler Moorhead.

The chapter was accompanied by advisors Dr. David Phillips, Delina Wester, and Andrew Fowler as well as many parents, grandparents, and siblings of competitors.

When all was said and done, Franklin County Middle School’s chapter brought home a total of five 1st place trophies.  Those trophies were won  in Website Design, Parliamentary Procedure, Community Service Video, Essays on Technology, and Digital Photography. 

They also won 2nd place trophies in Public Speaking, Outstanding Student, Structural Engineering, Construction Challenge, and Challenging Technology Issues.   Third place finishes included Go Green Manufacturing, Medical Technology Issues, Dragster Design, Junior Solar Sprint, Geospatial Technology, and Electrical Applications. 

The team brought home a total of 15 trophies.

The conference culminated with the presentation of the Georgia Outstanding Chapter Award, which goes to the team that won the most awards at the convention.

It should be no surprise that Franklin County TSA also brought home that trophy.   It was the 22nd time in 27 years that FCMS TSA has won the Outstanding Chapter Award.
