In April, County Manager Derrick Turner told the Board of Commissioners the results of a survey posted on the Franklin County website showed most people were in favor of allowing alcohol sales in Franklin County.

He said the survey showed 80.6% of those responding were in favor of countywide alcohol sales, and 17.9% were against.

The Board of Commissioners has been considering allowing alcohol sales in the County as a way to attract more retail and restaurant businesses in unincorporated parts of Franklin County – particularly along the I-85 corridor.

In June the Board voted to add an alcohol sales ordinance in the unincorporated part of Franklin County pending approval by voters.

The new ordinance will go into effect in January.
