Franklin County Sheriff’s Dept to Offer Gun Safety Class

In light of the new, broader gun law recently signed by Governor Nathan Deal, the Franklin County Sheriff’s office is joining with Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorney Parks White to offer a special class on when it is legal to use a firearm in Georgia.

The class takes place Saturday, May 24th at the Rocky Ford Recreation Center in Carnesville from 9a to noon.

Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas says members of the District Attorney’s office will be on hand to go over the legal use of fire arms.

“The class is on legal issues relating to the use of force, home invasions, car jacking , and weapons carry guidelines,” Thomas said. “This class will give people a better understanding on how to protect themselves and their families.”

Thomas said the class is free, but is limited to just 40 seats and you must register ahead of time. According to Thomas if more than 40 people register, another class will be scheduled at a future date.
