Franklin County Political Forum Postponed Due to Coronavirus Concerns

A Franklin County Political Forum of all local candidates scheduled for Tuesday, March 17  has been postponed.

Organized by the Franklin County Republican Party the political forum was to have taken place Tuesday evening at the Franklin County High School Fine Arts auditorium.

However, last week, Franklin County School Superintendent Chris Forrer said he asked the Party to cancel the forum.

The decision to cancel came from the Franklin County school administration.

Franklin County Republican Party Chair tells WLHR News right now a new date for the forum has not been nailed down.

17 Candidates for seven different offices – all Republicans – will have a chance at a later date to present their platforms and reasons for running, according to Republican Party Chair Angela Whidby.

Voters will decide on local candidates for office at the May General Primary Election.

Seats open in Franklin County include: Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, County Commissioner Districts 1 and 2, Board of Education Posts 1 and 2, Clerk of Court, and the Sheriff’s office.

WLHR will announce the time and date for the political forum as soon as we hear from the Franklin County Republican Party.
