Franklin County HS STAR Student and Teacher Named

The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce has named the Franklin County High School STAR Student and STAR teacher for 2014.

In a press release issued Monday, Chamber announced The STAR Student for 2014 is Leah Elizabeth Ginn and the STAR Teacher is Mr. Mark Hamner.

Now in its 56th year, the STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) program has honored Georgia’s highest achieving high school seniors and the teachers who have been most instrumental in their academic development. 

To receive the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest SAT score at FCHS and be in the top 10 percent of their class. 

Ginn and Hamner will be recognized at a Chamber-sponsored Honors breakfast, along with honor graduates on Friday, March 7th at 7a at the Swails Center in Franklin Springs.

To achieve the Honor Graduate Award, high school seniors must have a 93 or higher academic average, an 85 or higher elective average and 2 units of the same foreign language. 

Also, being honored at the breakfast will be this year’s Valedictorian Brittany Kay Miller and Salutatorian Morgan Nicole Rolston.

The Valedictorian and Salutatorian are the Honor Graduates that have the highest overall average, #1 and #2 in the senior class.
