Franklin County Hosts Several Christmas Events This Weekend

The weather should be picture perfect this weekend for a host of holiday activities in Franklin County.

Several communities in Franklin County will be celebrating the season with their annual Christmas Parades.

Saturday kicks off at 9a with Breakfast with Santa at the Community Center in downtown Carnesville.

Tickets are $5.00 and must be purchased in advance at City Hall.

Then at 11a, it’s the annual Christmas parade in downtown Canon.

The parade starts at 11a down Main St. and is open to anyone who wants to be part of the fun.

At 2p Carnesville will hold its 27th Annual Carnesville Christmas Parade & Party in the Park.
This year’s theme is “Christmas Dreams” and prizes will be awarded to the best interpretation of the theme.

Immediately following the parade, Carnesville will host it’s 5th Annual Christmas Party in the Park for children ages 12 and under.

There will be free inflatables, Christmas face painting and Papa’s Little Choo Choo, along with a treat from Santa!

Christmas cookies and hot chocolate will also be served.

On Sunday afternoon, Lavonia will host its annual Christmas parade through downtown.

Sponsored by the Lavonia Downtown Development Authority, Executive Director Marie Morse says it’s a fun time for everyone.

“Every year, the parade gets bigger and bigger and more people come out to see it,” she said. “It’s always a fun time.”

The Lavonia Christmas parade begins at 3p Sunday afternoon.
