Franklin County Health Dept to Add J&J COVID Vaccine Beginning Today

District Two Public Health announced Monday that beginning today the Franklin County Health Department will offer the Johnson and Johnson one-dose COVID-19 vaccine in addition to the two-dose Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines.

The J&J vaccine will be available for those who want it every Tuesday in May: May 4, May 11, May 18, and May 25.

The clinic is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 9a to 4:30p.

The Franklin County Health Department is administering COVID-19 vaccines at the Rocky Ford Gym clinic, 557 Rocky Ford Road, Carnesville.

Appointments are recommended but walk-ins are welcome.

If you would like to make an appointment you can go online to https://gta-vras.powerappsportals.us or by calling 1-888-426-5073.

Meantime, all eight Mass Vaccination Sites operated by the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency are now allowing drive-ups with no appointments necessary for the COVID-19 Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

The sites will administer the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine as available to those who haven’t received the first dose of a different vaccine until operations cease on May 21.

Pfizer second doses will be available at the Sites by appointment.

Appointments to receive the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine can be scheduled at MyVaccineGeorgia.com.

This past Friday, April 30, was the last day to receive the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the Sites.

Those who want to receive a vaccine other than the Johnson and Johnson vaccine can find information regarding vaccine availability near them by visiting dph.georgia.gov or at vaccinefinder.org.

The nearest Mass Vaccine Site in our area is the Habersham County Fairgrounds, located at 4235 Toccoa Hwy, in Clarkesville.

Site hours for the Habersham County Fairgrounds are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
