Franklin County Extension Agent Schedules Open House Next Week

The Franklin County Extension office has been around for decades, but for the first time, they will be holding an open house.

The open house takes place next week on September 16th.

New Franklin County Extension Agent Raymond Fitzpatrick says it’s an opportunity for the public to get to know what his office offers.

“It’s to introduce the new Extension office and myself,” he said. “The office used to be on Highway 145 and when it moved, I think a lot of people maybe stopped calling as much or utilizing the services because they were not aware of the new. So we want to make people aware of the services that are available so they can make use of them.”

Fitzpatrick says the Extension Service offers more services than most people realize and you don’t have to be a farmer to take advantage of them.

“A lot of what I do is to do things like soil and water testing, giving advice based on University research,” he said. “Nobody knows everything, but the University has spent a lot of time and money to be able to have the answers for people.”

Fitzpatrick took over the office this summer.  He says he is enjoying his job and looks forward to meeting citizens at the open house.

Again, the Franklin County Extension Service office open house takes place next Tuesday, September 16th.
