Franklin County BOC Affirms County Manager, Re-appoints County Clerk

Franklin County’s Board of Commissioners has re-affirmed the County Manager and re-appointed the County Clerk for another year.

At their meeting last week, Board Chair Thomas Bridges noted County Manager Beth Thomas did not need to be formally re-appointed because she has a three-year contract.

Bridges said however, he and the entire Board are very happy with Thomas’s work so far.

“I’d like to publicly say that I’m real pleased with the job you’re doing, Mrs Thomas,” Bridges said. “We feel like 2016 is going to be a very positive year with Mrs Thomas as our manager in Franklin County and we appreciate the hard work that you put in.”

Other commissioners echoed that sentiment, including Commissioners Jeff Jacques and David Strickland who said Thomas’ experience in finance has been a huge benefit to the county over the past year.

“I’ve stated it before, you were the right person at the right time for Franklin County,” Commissioner Jeff Jacques said.

“I would say you really filled the void that we needed, which was for financing and accounting,” Strickland said.

Commissioner Eddie Wester praised Thomas for coming up with solutions to the County’s financial problems instead of just ideas.

The Board also re-affirmed and re-appointed County Clerk Elaine Evans for 2016.

Bridges said Evans received a glowing report from the Board at her annual review.

“We had our evaluation in executive session at our work session on December 22nd,” Thomas said. “All five commissioners were very pleased with our clerk.”

After making the appointments for 2016, the Board set January 22 from noon to 5p for their annual strategic planning session.

The meeting is open to the public and is tentatively set to be held at the Chamber of Commerce office and Community Center in Carnesville.
