Franklin Co. Commissioner Ryan Swails Will Not Run for Re-election

Swails announced Tuesday he will not run for re-election

Franklin County Commissioner Ryan Swails has announced he will not run for re-election.

Swails, who serves District 3 in Franklin County said Tuesday new opportunities will keep him from serving another term.

“I won’t be running for re-election in November,” he said Tuesday night. “I have really enjoyed serving with each and every one of you guys. I like what we’ve been doing for the County. Some opportunities have come up and essentially, it really prevents me from being able to continue serving. So, I wanted to give any other candidates that are interested in running plenty of time to think about it and pray about it.”

Qualifying for the Board of Commission races and the Board of Education races begins March 7.

Qualifying fees were announced earlier this month for the Franklin County Board of Commission and the Franklin County Board of Education elections later this year.

Two District seats are open on the Board of Commissioners.
